Surviving a Pandemic

No one knew this was going to happen. No one was ready.

2020 was supposed to be a year of new opportunities and change. A new chapter was supposed to begin and life was supposed to take a turn.

It did—in a way no one expected.

The first quarter of the year had not even come to a close but the pandemic dictated the year was over. The year slipped out of our hands along with all our plans.

For a moment, the world stood still.

Cities shut down, transportation stopped, and the world—once full of adventure—seemed so small and vulnerable.

What can one do when the world seems to have fallen into chaos?

Silence

Cherish the Momentary Peace

Quiet always comes before the storm.

When the pandemic first hit and the world grew still, many were wrong to hope that it would all be over after a few weeks. Some knew the worst was yet to come.

Right now, the world has hit a record low. Over a million lives have already been lost worldwide. People have lost friends, parents, and even children. As many establishments and businesses remain closed due to the disease, we may still be wading in the calm of something we cannot fully imagine.

An article by Entrepreneur said we should pause.  If we have been coursing through the past months in the heat of our emotions and the fear of our current situation, it is never too late to stop and breathe.

And so, stepping back and keeping our emotions from getting the best of us might just be the key to moving forward.

Maybe, even the smallest moments of nothing will bring us the clarity we were hoping for in 2020.

Alone again

Explore the New World

The world has now shifted into something no one truly understands.

Even in this uncertainty, the world is trying to get back on its feet. Everyone is trying to move along. Companies are competing to get the first vaccine. Countries have re-opened their economies and have cleverly created schemes to support their local industries. Many are excited as international tourism began to open.

Despite it all, things are not what they used to be. The last time the world faced a pandemic of this scale was over a century ago. We are a generation walking through an iconic point in history, a milestone of a new century.

No point being hung over the past.

The crazy that came with the pandemic is here to stay. We have nothing left to do but cope with the new, even if hindrances seem to stack one after the other. Finding the right pieces to a puzzle will take us closer to the end.

It seems overwhelming right now. It will not feel that way forever.

Despite the restrictions on flights and the fear of contracting the virus, learning to navigate through this new world will only add to our experience.

This new maze we find ourselves in may be the adventure we hoped for at the beginning of the year. This is a challenge, a side quest to the main story of your life.

1000 piece puzzle.

I pray we do not let the world pass us by. The new will eventually turn mundane. We have a choice:  clam-up and settle or grow.

You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.
